12. Macaulay Culkin
Macaulay Culkin was the 1990s most popular child star. He made his debut as Kevin McCallister in the family comedy Home Alone and its sequel, and continued to star in films through the early ’90s. During the height of his career, he was regarded as the most successful child actor since Shirley Temple.
That is why it was so heartbreaking for so many to see what happened to him as he got older – which is no secret. Drugs and alcohol took their toll on the young star, and he seemed to personify and open the floodgates for many child stars to come after him. This picture of him, looking more like a homeless, drunken drug-addict than a star, will surely ruin your childhood if you ever knew Culkin in the ’90s.
