Notorious Boko Haram militants released a new video, aimed at undermining Nigerian military’s claims of substantial success in the campaign against terrorists.
The first part of the video contains several scenes of fights against Nigerian troops. Militants are shooting sporadically and screaming “Allahu Akbar”.
The other part contains militants firing rocket propelled grenades and large-calibre machine-guns mounted on the pick-ups in some undisclosed location in north-eastern Nigeria.
The video also contains gruesome scene with some Nigerian soldier captured by the Boko Haram militants.
The militants slit his throat and decapitated him filming the whole process of the execution on camera.
Boko Haram militants also shown bragging considerable amounts of Russian arms and ammunition allegedly seized from the Nigerian military.
While some people think that emergence of the new video by Boko Haram militants is the evidence that the Nigerian military are winning the war against terrorists on papers alone, critics voiced their doubts about the authenticity of this new video.
“These videos [combined into one video from some old videos which have been on YouTube for almost a year] were recorded before air attacks by the Nigerian army,” commented on YouTube Umar Imam who considers the latest Boko Haram video to be nothing more than just another example of the extremist propaganda.
“This false video will not lower the morale of our soldiers,” agreed with him Alliyu Khamis.
Five days ago Boko Haram, the deadly jihadist sect plaguing the northeast of Nigeria, has released a new video in which an unidentified militant re-affirmed the insurgents’ allegiance to the Islamic State (ISIS).
In pledging the allegiance to ISIS and its leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the Boko Haram spokesman asserted that the terrorist group, which only recently has been known as IS West Africa Province, was still under the leadership of Abubakar Shekau.
Yesterday a special task force in Plateau state, code-named Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), has warned residents to be alert following intelligence reports that Boko Haram insurgents were planning to attack Jos, the state capital, and its environs.
Meahwhile, the army spokesman Colonel Sani Usman has said the army repelled a Boko Haram attack on the military in Yobe state in the morning of Wednesday, October 7.
Usman said in the course of the battle seven soldiers were killed. He added that the army counted more than 100 dead bodies of insurgents following the fight. He said weapons recovered from the terrorists, included RPGs, AK-47 rifles and various explosives.
