The Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun Corps, has apprehended two secondary school students who allegedly staged their own abduction in an attempt to extort money from their mother.
The incident occurred in Oka-Akoko, the headquarters of Akoko South-West Local Council of the state, where the two female teenagers had been in hiding for three days before being caught.
The students, aged 13 and 15, are in JSS 3 and SSS 1 classes respectively. During interrogation at the state headquarters of Amotekun Corps in Akure, the siblings confessed to planning the fake abduction as a means of retaliating against their mother, whom they accused of mistreatment.
Commander Adetunji Adeleye of the Amotekun Corps revealed that an investigation is underway to determine the motive behind their actions.
He also announced the arrest of 28 other suspected criminals in different parts of the state, highlighting the success of joint patrols conducted by Amotekun Corps, the military, and other security agencies.
