Nimbin is a village in the state of New South Wales, Australia that is very well-known for it’s lively cannabis culture. This location is often described by the media as “the drug capital of Australia”. The whole area is decorated with colourful paintings, bright shop fronts and live music can be heard wherever you go.
Each year thousands of tourists visit for the first weekend of May when they have their very own MardiGras. Competitions include bong-throwing, joint rolling and many races so they can prove that weed smokers can be healthy too. Although marijuana possession is still very much illegal in Australia, over the years the police have had very little luck with convincing the village of Nimbin to put an end to the activity.
