6. Snoop’s First Mainstream Hit Was in 1992
The year was 1992 and the movie was Deep Cover. It was directed by Bill Duke and it starred Jeff Goldblum and Laurence Fishburne. The movie had a pretty decent soundtrack and one of the songs featured on it was by West Coast rapper and producer Dr. Dre.
He was just breaking ties with his group N.W.A. and starting his own solo career. The record called “Deep Cover” featured a cameo by a tall, lanky Long Beach rapper named Snoop Doggy Dogg. From that moment, the rap world fell in love with Snoop and in 2015, he’s still one of the most popular figures in rap.
