4. Gia Carangi – Cocaine, Heroin, Alcohol

The subject of the dramatic film, Gia (1998) which starred Angelina Jolie, Gia Carangi was a fashion model in the late 1970s and early 1980s who dawned numerous covers of huge international magazines like Vogue and Cosmopolitan. She is one of the first designated “supermodels.” Carangi enjoyed her success and was a regular at the big clubs, like Studio 54 and the Mudd Club. There, she would do cocaine. After cocaine, she graduated to heroin use. She began to lose control and contracted AIDS. She sadly passed away in 1986, the disease consuming her.
