4. Exotic Pets
Cost: $150,000 and over
Apparently, it’s no longer acceptable to be rich and have a dog. If you’re in the public eye, you have to have a pet cheetah, octopus or maybe a monkey.
Exotic pets seem to be all the rage with celebrities. Nicolas Cage bought a pet octopus for $150,000 to become a better actor by studying other life — so don’t be surprised to see Cage exclusively star in underwater dramas.
While it’s still a lot of money, $150,000 is relatively cheap for an exotic animal. Plus, you have to make sure you take care of it. Kirstie Alley hired two people to take care of her pet lemurs, and she pays them each $40,000 – $50,000 a year.
