Preparation for the Rio Olympics might not be 100% but Nigeria has proven in the past that during difficult times is when they tend to produce their best outings.
Nigeria have world class athletes who can equally compete with their foreign counterparts as seen in the football event where Nigeria defeated Japan 5-4.
Here are five events Nigeria is expected to win medals
1. 100, 200 meters and Long Jump:
One woman who has been consistent in the sprint races is Blessing Okagbare and she is one of the brightest hope for Nigeria in terms of winning medals in the Track and Field events.
Okagbare has been in fine form going into Brazil, especially the Diamond League competitions but her major contender for gold is Jamaica’s Shelly-Anna Fraser-Pryce.
2. Relays:
In past Olympic Games, Nigeria has always been a contender in competing with dominant countries in relay races and with Okagabare involved in the 4x100m relay race, the nation has the hope of finishing in the top three.
