There was a mild-drama in Kano state on Thursday as some COVID-19 patients had held health workers hostage at the Kwanar Dawaki Isolation Centre in the state.
According to reports, Two medical doctors and a nurse were held hostage for some hours by some Covid-19 patients, creating a mild drama.
Aminu Mohammed, former chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), made this known during a radio program on Friday, May 8, The Cable reports.
Mohammed said the incident happened while the doctors and the nurse were conducting a routine checking around the ward where the patients are being managed. He stressed that the incident was a confirmation of the challenges being faced by health officials who need to manage hostile patients apart from treating them.
Although Tijjani Husaini, head of Kano COVID-19 technical response team, said he was not aware of the incident, Mohammed called for support for the medics facing the risk of managing the coronavirus cases. Kano currently has 547 cases of coronavirus, the second-highest in the country after Lagos.
