Afropop artist Davido’s attempted punch at an intrusive fan during a performance at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) in Lagos has gone viral, stirring reactions online.
The incident occurred on Sunday, April 23, during the third and final leg of Davido’s special album shows, which he dubbed “A Timeless Night.”
The tour kicked off earlier this month in New York and marked the first home performance of the album songs in Nigeria at the 50,000-capacity venue.
As the singer performed an acapella rendition of his hit song “If,” a fan seemingly carried away by the music jumped onto the stage.
A vigilant Davido quickly set his fist, poised to strike the intruder as he approached. However, before any punches were thrown, the fan was swiftly removed from the stage by private security personnel.
The video capturing the incident quickly spread across social media platforms, with users sharing their thoughts and reactions to the altercation.
The “A Timeless Night” concert series, which celebrates Davido’s latest album, has been met with great enthusiasm from fans around the world.
The Lagos show, held at Tafawa Balewa Square, was a particularly special event as it marked the artist’s return to his home country of Nigeria after his performances in New York and other locations.
Davido, whose full name is David Adedeji Adeleke, has been a prominent figure in the Afropop music scene since the release of his debut album “Omo Baba Olowo” in 2012.
