And then, there are the new breed of Hollywood royalty – families who have risen to superstardom as a family unit, either by working on projects such as reality television shows together, or successfully pursuing individual projects – or, in many cases, both. We all know about the British royal family, but when it comes to Hollywood, there is a whole different breed of celebrity royal families, in which every member is endlessly watched and stalked by the paparazzi. The Osbournes Before the Kardashians urged the entire world to keep up with their pursuits, there were the Osbournes, the original reality television family. On paper, it seemed a bit strange – sure, everyone was interested in seeing the private life of notorious Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne, thanks to his larger than life personality. But would the rest of his family be interesting? Turns out they were – viewers tuned in week after week to see Sharon, Kelly, and Jack. The show brought each family member into the public eye, and they’ve managed to turn that into larger success in the entertainment industry. Sharon Osbourne has become a daytime television staple, co-hosting The Talk, and Kelly became a darling of the E! network on the delightfully catty Fashion Police. The Sheen-Estevezes It’s incredibly difficult to succeed in the entertainment industry, but several members of the Sheen-Estevez family have managed to do just that. Martin Sheen, the patriarch of the group, had a long film career with over 250 roles under his belt. It’s safe to say he definitely made an impact on the film industry, and his two sons would soon step up to try and fill their father’s shoes. Emilio Estevez, the older of the two, exploded in popularity in the 1980s and 1990s as a member of the Brat Pack. While his career has been a bit quieter in the decades since then, countless movie lovers still adore Estevez. The Sutherlands Donald Sutherland has had a long career spanning over half a century with roles in hit films and television series including MASH, JFK, National Lampoon’s Animal House, Ordinary People and more. However, he isn’t the only Sutherland to walk the red carpet – his son, Kiefer, made it onto the A-List himself thanks to a starring role as Jack Bauer on hit series 24. First, the patriarch, Will Smith – he got his start in the late 80s as rapper The Fresh Prince, and quickly snagged an iconic role in sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air . He eventually turned that success into a big Hollywood film career. His wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, has snagged roles in the television series Hawthorne and in the Madagascar film franchise. Jaden, their son, has had a successful film career as well, starring in The Karate Kid and alongside dad in The Pursuit of Happyness . Finally, their daughter, Willow, put out the smash hit single “Whip My Hair,” and has been dabbling in music and acting as well. 5. The Hawn-Hudsons Goldie Hawn was basically the prototype for every bubbly blonde rom-com star to grace the screen nowadays. Throughout her career, Hawn snagged countless roles as the loveable, fun, beautiful female character in films like Overboard, The First Wives Club and more. She’s famous for her long-time relationship with Kurt Russell, who helped Hawn raise her children Kate and Oliver. Kate Hudson went on to achieve superstardom just like her mother, starring in Almost Famous and countless romantic comedies. The Barrymores Those who are only aware of the current generation of Hollywood starlets may think Drew Barrymore came from an ordinary, average family, but that’s about as far from the truth as you could get. Acting is in the Barrymore blood, and her family tree has four generations of entertainers. Barrymore’s great-grandparents were actors, her great-aunt Ethel was a stage actress in Britain and the U.S., her great-uncle Lionel was a character actor and director with over 200 film credits to his name, her grandfather John was an absolute Hollywood superstar in the 1920s and 30s, her grandmother Dolores was a silent-screen star, and even her parents were actors. I mean, it would almost be ridiculous for Drew to have pursued any other career path – it’s pretty much meant to be with a lineage like that. 3. The Jolie-Pitt-Voights While Angelina Jolie and her father Jon Voight might not always have had the best relationship, there’s no doubting that he’s a talented actor. However, his daughter wasn’t content to let dad be the only A-Lister in the family – she quickly rose to superstardom with a wide variety of film roles, and along the way, met her husband, fellow A-Lister Brad Pitt.
