2. John Edwards
John Edwards, the Senator from North Carolina (1999-2005), was thrust into the national spotlight in 2004 when he became the Democratic nomination for Vice President, alongside Presidential Candidate, John Kerry and again in 2006, when he announced his intention to run for President in 2008. However, his political career slowly died when it was revealed that not only did he have an affair with a campaign worker, but he had also fathered a child with her. Initially he tried to cover up the affair and denied the child was his, but DNA testing later proved that he was the father. The truly sad part of this was it all occurred while his wife, Elizabeth Edwards, was suffering and ultimately died from breast cancer.
