2. U2, The Year Of 9/11
One of the toughest moments in the history of America came on September 11th, 2001. The attack left the nation stunned and searching for answers. Even sports took a brief hiatus as everyone tried to really breath in the gravity of what had just occurred. When the sports world continued and the Super Bowl became a logical end point again, the decision of who was going to be the halftime show seemed more important than ever.
After the moving performance by U2, it is hard to imagine anyone else could have been considered. The performance also included a backdrop, featuring the names of all the victims of the attacks. Bono also displayed the lining of his jacket, which just so happened to be stars and stripes, a strong sign of support.
