17) Rihanna Was An Army Cadet
Rihanna can sing, dance and fight in a war…. okay, maybe she shouldn’t actually fight in a war but she certainly has a background that could assist in that. While living in Barbados, Rihanna was in the army cadets in the sub-military program in her teenage years. She was a bit of a tomboy and wanted to show the guys just how tough she was. She ended up reaching the rank of corporal. Later, she would be able to put all that military training to good use. In 2011, Rihanna would appear in the film Battleship, which was directed by Peter Berg. During her time as a cadet, her drill sergeant was singer Shontelle, who noted that one of her duties included bossing the cadets around and making them do push ups. In an interview with the BBC, Shontelle said, “We were both in cadets together—it wasn’t compulsory or anything. But picture me and Rihanna in combat boots and fatigues crawling through mud and things like that.”
16) Rihanna Is Addicted To Tattoos
Rihanna has admitted that her only real addiction is to tattoos. She once said, “I am so intrigued by tattoos. It’s an entire culture, and I study it. Sometimes I go with friends, or just by myself. I get bum-rushed, but I don’t care. I don’t take security.” She currently has 21 tattoos but one can only assume that she’ll be adding more in the future. Her first tattoo was of music notes on her foot, which she later covered up with a falcon. In 2012, she got a tattoo on her chest of the Egyptian goddess, Isis, who represents the ideal wife and mother. She got the tattoo of Isis as a tribute to her late grandmother. Some of her other tattoos include a skull on the back of her leg, a tribal design covering her whole hand, the word “love” on her middle finger, “shhhh” written on her index finger, a gun under her right armpit, a star on her ear, stars trailing down her neck to her back, and many more.
