The X-Men actor and his actress wife appeared to be one of the strongest couples in the industry, despite keeping a low profile on the red carpet and out in public. The former couple previously stated that they didn’t like to show up to many events together in order to rejoice in having a normal life. In May the pair announced in an official statement their decision to divorce and their plan to co-parent their young son together. They expressed their sadness for the split, but also emphasized an amicable separation in their statement: “We enter this next phase with continued friendship, love and respect for one another and the shared focus of caring for our son.” 14. Due to distance and time consuming schedules, the pair have called off their engagement in order to take a break from the pressure their careers have placed on their relationship. After the breakup was announced, Gaga took to social media to express her hopes to reconcile. “We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared. Please root us on. We’re just like everybody else and we really love each other,” the Mother Monster shared on her official Instagram account, complete with an attached picture of the former lovers. Calvin Harris & Taylor Swift And just like that, another one bites the dust. It’s no secret that Taylor Swift has capitalized in her career on addressing her failed romances in song and on the next album we will all know exactly what went wrong during her relationship with the Scottish DJ, Calvin Harris. In early June, just after spending a little over a year together, the music sensations called it quits. Following the split, Harris tweeted that while they broke up, love and respect remained between the two. Everything seemed to end fairly well, until Swift was caught canoodling with actor Tom Hiddleston which led many to believe the pop-star cheated on Harris prior to their split. Singing the same tune of breaking boys’ hearts like a flip of a switch, Swift then went on to call out Harris by revealing that she wrote his hit Rihanna single, “This Is What You Came For”, under the name Nils Sjoberg. Not backing down against Swift’s attempt to control the media once again, Harris held nothing back in a series of tweets stating that she should focus on her new relationship rather than tearing others down just because she is off tour and apparently has nothing else better to do. Needless to say, this is hands down the most entertaining breakup of the year so far, and Harris definitely dodged a bullet by ending the romance. 1. Johnny Depp & Amber Heard While the end of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s marriage didn’t exactly surprise anyone, it was the allegations that followed the separation that had jaws dropping. In late May, it was announced that Amber filed for divorce after marrying the actor in a lavish island ceremony back in February of 2015. The reason for the breakup came out of left field when the 30-year-old actress also filed a restraining order against the Through the Looking Glass actor. The 15-month marriage was apparently tense behind closed doors, for Heard cited irreconcilable differences, and claimed there was history of domestic violence. Heard was photographed coming out of court after being granted the restraining order with bruises on her face. Depp’s ex-partner and his daughter spoke publicly, claiming that the violence allegations were outrageous and that he was far from a physically abusive man. With no prenuptial agreement, many believe that Heard is blackmailing the successful actor as she recently accused her former husband of stalling the divorce. Despite the fact that Depp filed papers to keep their divorce a private matter, it’s going to be quite interesting to see how the rest of the divorce proceedings turn out.
