4. They get angry.
Depression is confusing for men. They feel sad and they don’t know why.
They experience pain and they don’t know why. And most men don’t have the social structures or friendships that give them an outlet to talk about their feelings of pain and confusion.
So what do they do? They get angry.
They lash out. They become surly and aggressive.
They become like a lion with a thorn in its paw — they’re hurt, scared, and they don’t know what to do about it.
The only response that seems to make sense is rage. It can make the people around them miserable, but it should be recognized as a cry for help more than anything.
