Why I connect more with Burna Boy than other artistes – BNXN

Nigerian music sensation, Daniel Benson, popularly known as BNXN has said his senior colleague, Burna Boy’s originality is the main reason he connects more with the multiple award-winning superstar singer than any other artiste.

The ‘Kilometre’ crooner said he’s reminded of that fact about Burna every time he listens to his songs compared to others.

He added that he shares a similarity with Burna Boy in that regard because his works are also authentic and people can derive the same vibes when they listen to their individual songs.

BNXN stated: “You see why I connect with Burna? It’s because everything is so different out here. Like when I listen to him and I listen to somebody else or anybody else, it’s like…You can just tell that he is doing his own thing.

“The same thing with when you listen to me. Except you want to be whining yourself sha! You get? What we’re doing here, you can’t get it anywhere else, I promise you. Yeah! I said it and I say it again.”

On Burna Boy’s remark about ‘Afrobeats lacking substance’, BNXN stated that Burna wasn’t altogether incorrect, saying he observed the interview personally.

However, he pointed out that Burna failed to acknowledge that, making songs lacking substance is also part of what they do as Afro-fusion artistes, adding the genre was simply a ‘combination of everything’.

He added:

“It’s only a few of us that’s real and doing this thing with proper substance and having something to say in it.

“Like the other day, I was watching the Burna interview and I was wondering why everybody got him so misinterpreted. But at the same time, what you don’t understand will always confuse you. So, it’s okay at the same time.

“Personally, me, I didn’t have a problem with what he said o! You already know. But I feel like the only issue there was that he failed to say it’s also part of what we do. Afro-fusion is a combination of everything.

“Even if I give you conscious music today and music with substance, I still gas give you gbedu based on say na wetin I dey do. Na wetin I dey do.
