Nigerian socialite, Ismaila Mustapha, widely known as Mompha, has issued a response to the recent development regarding the takeover of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) office in Lagos by the Department of State Services (DSS).
According to reports, DSS operatives arrived at the EFCC office in Ikoyi, Lagos state, early on Tuesday, preventing the anti-graft agency’s officials from entering the building. This incident has been attributed to an ongoing dispute between the two agencies over the ownership of the office.
The Punch reported that the DSS operatives maintained their presence despite discussions between representatives of both agencies. A source explained, “There has been an ongoing dispute between us and the DSS regarding the ownership of the office since it was previously occupied by them before it was handed over to the EFCC.”
In response to the situation, Mompha took to his Instagram page and took a satirical approach, specifically targeting the EFCC. It is worth noting that Mompha himself is currently facing a N6 billion fraud case, with the trial adjourned until July 3, 2023, in court.
He shared a screenshot of a tweet that humorously commented on the incident, stating, “DSS stormed the EFCC office with guns, while EFCC officers were there with guns to defend. After DSS wins, EFCC officers will take to Twitter shouting, ‘Say No to Police Brutality’.”
Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has instructed the DSS to vacate the EFCC office in Ikoyi, Lagos State. This directive was communicated through a tweet from the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council.
The tweet mentioned that the President gave the order upon being informed about the reports of DSS officials preventing EFCC personnel from accessing their workplace at the office located on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos.
