Nigerians have demanded for the release of the deposed Emir of Kano Lamido Sanusi who is reportedly serving a house arrest in Awe Town, Nasarawa following his exit from the throne. Popular Nigerian activists, Deji Adeyanju has shared photos of the alleged 2bedroom apartment the former prominent king was relegated to.
The former emir now occupies a modest two-bedroom bungalow belonging to the local government chairman in Awe. The living room is sparingly furnished with just a couch, A television set and a decoder while the rumpled rug on the floor.
The rooms and toilets clearly doesn’t look like a place someone with Sanusi’s pedigree should even spend the night. Nigerians joined voices in social media to demand for the immediate release of the deposed monarch whose fundamental human rights are being violated.
