5. Additional Treatment Tips
- Maintain a Dry and Clean Skin
Fungi are commonly found and usually thrive in moist environment. So make sure that you keep your skin, particularly your genital area dry. Wash your pubic region with soap and water every day when bathing or showering and dry the area thoroughly.
Ensure that you wash your genital area well after sexual intercourse and most importantly, always practice safe sex because the infections can spread during the course and even men, especially uncircumcised men, can develop yeast infections in their genital region.
Remember to wipe from the front to the back when you go to the bathroom –wipe from your vagina to the anus. This will help you reduce the chance of spreading the germs.
- Wear Cotton underwear
Avoid wearing synthetic-made underwear, panty hose and tight jeans.
Cotton is a breathable fabric and it can help you prevent the growth of fungus in your vagina because it allows air to reach your genitals and thereby reduces the moist environment which fungi thrive.

Eat healthy diet that will boost your immune system and help your reduce the risk of the infections. Incorporate fruits and vegetables into your diet. Take good foods that contain probiotics and avoid sugar, alcohol, processed foods, starchy vegetables and unhealthy fats.
Always wear clean clothes all the time, especially clean underwear. Remove wet clothes or bathing suits as soon as possible. Do not spend a long time in them.

It is good that you avoid sexual intercourse if it is painful.

Taking a warm bath by sitting in a bathtub or big bowl may help you relieve your symptoms and soothe your genital area.
