ABIA STATE

Results in 3 LGs cancelled

Results of the April 11 governorship and state assembly elections in three local governments of Abia state have been cancelled. The affectedcouncils are Obingwa, Isiala Ngwa North and Osisioma. Announcing the cancellation at INEC state headquarters in Umuahia, the statecollation/ returning officer, Professor Benjamin Ozumba said that reports from international observers showed that election in the affected councils were characterized by violence.

He insisted there was "incontrovertible evidence" to warrant the cancellation. Expectedly the cancellation drew heated arguments and recriminations from agents of both PDP and APGA.

While PDP agent, Hon Solomon Ogunji protested against the cancellation the APGA agent lauded the action of the state collation/returningofficer, saying it was in line with the complaints made by his party.

Before the cancellations were announced the result of the governorship poll in Osisioma had been announced with PDP scoring 42, 122 votesas against APGA with 1, 017.

Results so far announced: Isiala Ngwa South: PDP got 7, 133 while APGA polled 5, 686. Umunneochi: PDP 43, 24; APGA 7, 349 Ukwa East : PDP 4, 261; APGA 3, 851 Arochukwu: PDP 3, 032; APGA 11, 383 Ukwa West: PDP 9,154; APGA 4,890

Sokoto: Tambuwal Leading in All 18 LGAs Declared by INEC

All Progressive Congress governorship candidate and Speaker of House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal is leading in 18 out of the 23 local government areas in Sokoto state. APC leads PDP in 9 LGAs in Bauchi

The All Progressive Congress APC governorship candidate, Barrister Mohammed Abubakar is currently leading in nine local government area of the State.

The Peoples Democratic Party Governorship candidate, Auwal jatau only won in Bogoro local government area where he polled 16,980 to defeat APC which scored 9, 914 votes.

The breakdown of the results are as follows.

Ahmed Leading in Kwara Guber Race

The incumbent governor of Kwara state and All Progressives Congress(APC) governorship candidate in Saturday’s governorship election, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, is now leading in 13 out of 16 local government councils so far released by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) at its collation centre in Ilorin, the state capital.

The affected local government councils are:

Ondo: PDP Wins 19 Constituencies, APC 5

Armed thugs force REC to declare results under duress Navy shoot dead two of the hoodlums James Sowole in Akure

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ondo State has won 19 out of the 24 results of the Saturday's House of Assembly election declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The rival All Progressive Congress (APC), which won the majority of seats in the National Assembly as well as the presidential election in the state in the March 28 election, won in only five constituencies.

The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ondo State, Mr Olusegun Agbaje, who echoed the results of the election announced earlier at various constituencies, said results of the two constituencies in Ilaje Local Government Area of the state are still outstanding.

Agbaje at a news briefing at the INEC Headquarters, Akure, said though the Returning Officers for Ilaje Constituency I and Ilaje Constituency II were forced to declare the results under duress by armed thugs, the officers in their separate reports to the REC had declared the results of the two constituencies inconclusive.

He disclosed that men of the Forward Operational Base tF0B) of the Nigerian Navy shot dead two of the hoodlums that fomented trouble in Ilaje Local Government Area.

Agbaje stated that the violence in Ilaje Local Government led to cancellation in several polling units with a total registered voters that have effect on the final result if elections were not cancelled in those polling units.

The REC therefore stated that the INEC National Headquarters would make final pronouncement on the two constituencies.

Giving the highlights of the performances of the two major political parties, the REC said Olotu Fatai of the PDP won in Akoko North East Constituency just as Araoyinbo Olugbenga and Towase Kuti Oluwasegunota also of PDP won in Akoko North West 1 and Akoko South East respectively.

The REC also said PDP also won in Akure North, Akure South 1, Ese-Odo, Idanre and Ifedore constituencies.

Other constituencies won by PDP are Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo, Irele, Odigbo1, Odigbo II, Okitipupa I and Okitipupa II constituencies.

The other constituencies won by the PDP are Ondo East, Ondo West I, Ondo West II, Ose and Owo I.

On the other hand, the rival APC won in Akure South II, Akoko North West I, Akoko South West II, Akure South II and Owo iI constituency.

While thanking various stakeholders for their support and cooperation with the INEC, Agbaje said the commission would work very hard to consolidate and deepen the country's democratic process in line with the Electoral Act 2010 as amended and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Adamawa Guber Polls: APC Leading in 7 out of 12 Local Government Results Announced

Results announced by 12 local government returning officers shows that All Progressives Congress APC winning in 7 while the Social Democratic Party SDP won in 5 local Governments of Adamawa state.

The results of the 9 remaining local government areas are yet to arrive the collation centre in Yola at the time of sending this report.

The result however came with surprise as the People’s Democratic Party’s gubernatorial candidate and former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Mallam Nuhu Ribadu trailed behind and could not even win his Yola South local Government area.

APC Clears All Borno State House of Assembly Seats

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared all the 11 seats at the Borno State House of Assembly announced so far by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Elections are still ongoing in four local government areas of the state, having been postponed to Sunday because of bad weather condition on Saturday that made the distribution of ballot papers impossible in some parts of the state.
