4. Inferno
Inferno is based on the Dan Brown book of the same name, and is a continuation of the Da Vinci Code series. The first movie was released in 2006, and became a big success earning over 750 million dollars. The second movie, Angels & Demons however, made almost 300 million dollars less than its predecessor; and this was with both director Ron Howardand star Tom Hanks returning (the duo are back with this installment as well). Based on the performance of the second movie, it is apparent that audiences may have grown tired with this series’ complex religion-based mystery story lines, which may not bold well for Inferno’s box office earnings.
