STD #3 – Syphilis
Syphilis is a disease that is created by a type of bacteria. While less common now, it was widespread in the 1930s and 40s.
Symptoms
The following stuff will be seen and will vary greatly from the different stages of the disease:
- Sores on the genitals or inside of the mouth.
- A reddish rash will develop after 6 weeks and may persist for months.
- Warts on the groin may develop.
- Fever and weight loss may occur.
The most severe cases may be responsible for heart and brain problems as well as dementia, blindness and deafness.
Causes
Sexual intercourse, oral sex and even extended periods of kissing, in very rare circumstances,can cause a person to contract Syphilis. This is created directly by the Treponema pallidum bacteria.
Treatment
During the initial two stages, this disease can be successfully treated with penicillin.
Pay attention! Later stages are often incurable.
