Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, a Nigerian music veteran, has sounded the alarm that the recently revamped N200, N500, and N1000 notes are no longer in circulation.
As per reports, the Supreme Court ruled in March that the current version of the Naira notes will remain valid along with the old Naira notes until December 31, 2023.
Emmanuel Agim, a member of the court’s seven-man panel, who delivered the lead judgment, stated that President Muhammadu Buhari’s instruction to redesign the new notes and withdraw the old notes without proper consultation is invalid.
Nevertheless, Charly Boy took to his Twitter page to share that he has only noticed the old notes being circulated since the court’s ruling.
He posted a picture stating, “I no dey see new naira notes again oo”
He then captioned it by asking, “why why why? Can somebori tell me why?
