King Charles III, the 75-year-old monarch of the United Kingdom, has been diagnosed with cancer.
The news, announced by Buckingham Palace on Monday, breaks with tradition as past ailments of British monarchs were often kept private.
While the type and stage of cancer haven’t been revealed, the Palace confirmed the diagnosis occurred during King Charles lll’s recent hospital visit for a different, non-cancerous condition.
Following doctor’s advice, the King will be reducing public appearances to limit contact with others.
This shift in his schedule has sparked discussions about transparency and the evolving expectations surrounding royal health information.
