10 Smuggling Cocaine Without Punishment
It would seem that Saudi Arabia’s Royal Family has all the money in the world and they don’t need to get involved in anything sketchy and illegal. However, in 2004, Prince Nayef bin Fawwaz Al Shalaan tried to smuggle 4,400 lb (2,000 kg) of cocaine from Colombia to Europe. He used his private Boeing 727 to stack all the cocaine, and he planned to launder all the money through the Kanz Bank (he owns it of course). Well, apart from the fact that Prince Nayef didn’t need more money at all, this plan was quite clever. Sadly, the French authorities caught him red-handed. That’s where the best part of the story begins.
The House of Saud intervened and commanded France to let the prince go. They even threatened to dismiss a couple of important business deals with France if it didn’t obey. So, the accomplices of Prince Nayef are probably still rotting in jail, while he is freely enjoying the sun of Saudi Arabia.
9 Prince Saud bin Abdulaziz Assassinated His Gay Lover
When Prince Saud bin Abdulaziz bin Nasir al Saud brutally killed his gay lover in 2010, he was mostly concerned about proving the court he was not a homosexual. It sounds off to me. Of course, in Saudi Arabia homosexuality is still among the worst crimes, punished by execution. So, Prince Saud bin Abdulaziz had beaten his manservant and lover, Bandar Abdulaziz, 37 times, bitten both of his cheeks, ordered a couple of glasses of milk from the reception and pretended that he was innocent. This crime happened on Valentine’s Day. That’s how Saudi Arabia’s Royal Family celebrates love.
Unfortunately, Prince Saud bin Abdulaziz committed this crime in London, so he had to face the trial in the UK. The British court convicted and jailed Prince for life. However, he was soon sent back to Saudi Arabia in exchange of five Britons. Yes, no doubt he is walking free again.
8 Giving Free Hugs Is A Massive Crime In Saudi Arabia
The House of Saud released an awful lot of controversial laws during their reign. However, people in Saudi Arabia cannot do a thing about it. They must obey and pretend that they are happy unless they want to get in trouble. There is a special Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (Hayaa) established only to make sure that people are praying and not acting like “perverted” westerners.
In 2013, a 21-year-old man Abdulrahman al-Khayyal watched a video on YouTube, in which a man was giving free hugs to random strangers. Abdulrahman thought that it would be a great idea to do the same in Saudi Arabia. He went to the streets with a “Free Hugs” sign and started hugging strangers. It took no time for Hayaa to show up and arrest Abdulrahman for the “supposedly audacious and criminal actions.” There are no records of where he is now, but he is lucky if he’s not in jail.
