7 Meghan Wore A Blue Wrap Dress Worth Over $1,500 While Kate’s Was Only Over $100
Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton made headlines after wearing blue dresses to a Royal Foundation Forum. It was their first interview out together since announcing that they were soon-to-be sisters-in-law. All eyes were on them, and then to their dresses. Kate has always been known for having expensive style, even when purchasing maternity clothes that she might only wear once. For this interview, she chose to wear a $169 maternity dress designed by Seraphine.
It was Meghan that really shocked the press after being seen in a $1,795 wrap dress by designer Jason Wu. Kate’s dress seems pricey, though. For a special event, the splurge is understandable. However, Meghan really shocked the press as it was 10 times as much as Kate’s. It wasn’t the first time their wardrobe budget was judged, and it’s certainly the start of a comparison we’re going to see often.
6 Kate’s Wedding Dress Was Reportedly Over $400,000
Kate Middleton was the envy of millions of viewers all over the world when it came to their royal wedding. Every girl dreams of their wedding day, and many little girls wish to one day become a princess. Kate Middleton got to live out both of those fantasies, all the while wearing an extravagant $350,000 dress. The wedding gown was designed specifically for her by Sarah Burton, creative director of the luxury fashion house Alexander McQueen, and the style instantly became popular, with brides requesting the design in stores all over the world.
Although this massive price tag was shocking for some to accept, apparently, Meghan Markle’s dress is close to half a million dollars as well. All over again, people are going crazy wondering what the dress might look like, but only a few know for now. At least we’ll have Kate’s dress to hold us over until the next royal wedding.
5 Princess Diana’s Was Only $12,000
Lady Diana Spencer was only 20 years old when she married 32-year-old Prince Charles. What some might remember more than their big age difference about the ordeal was her extravagant wedding dress. The massive train and overall puffiness is still an iconic look to this day. At the time, Princess Diana paid a little over $12,000 for the gown. Unfortunately, before her wedding, she suffered from bulimia, causing the dress to be too large for her then size-10 body. Everything ended up fitting her body, but not in the coach that took her and her father to the church on her wedding day.
The train was damaged, but luckily, Diana had a spare in case she couldn’t wear the dress she had planned.
She also had a backup gown in case the original design was revealed to the news publications too soon.
