A young man known as “Commissioner” was tragically butchered in Orhunwhorhun Community, Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, amidst suspicions of cultist involvement.
The exact reasons behind the killing remain unclear at this time. It is uncertain whether the deceased had any affiliation with the local cult groups.
According to our correspondent, a clash between rival cult groups resulted in the loss of the young man’s life. During the confrontation, he was accosted and mercilessly attacked with various weapons, including machetes, cutlasses, battle axes, and broken bottles. The cultists continued their assault until he succumbed to his injuries before leaving the gruesome crime scene.
The incident has sparked heightened tension in the area, prompting both indigenous people and residents to flee. The suspected cultists have issued threats, vowing to return at night to carry out further acts of violence.
As of now, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, has not made any official statements regarding the matter and has not responded to inquiries made by various sources.
