Love them or hate them, the Kardashians are everywhere. Since hitting our screens in 2007 with their reality show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians (now in its 14th season), this family has dominated our lives in every possible way, and it looks like their global conquering is set to take them from millionaires to billionaires. While hundreds of millions of us casually scroll through their respective Instagram or Twitter accounts, there’s more to this power family’s agenda than acquiring “aww” comments and likes. With Kylie Jenner‘s 2018 baby announcement being the most liked Instagram post ever (over 17 million), and queen bee Kim‘s KKW Beauty contouring palette selling out in just three minutes, they’ve carefully planned where their fans end up: in Kardashian online shopping carts.

Each Kardashian has a role in expanding the empire, from the $150 million they signed in 2017 to extend the show for five more seasons, to the estimated $420 million the Kylie Cosmetics line is reported to have made in sales. While Kendall rakes in the cash from modelling contracts, Khloe‘s Good American fashion line is exploding. Even the lower-profile sister Kourtney makes headlines as we follow her rocky relationship with baby daddy, Scott Disick. Under the iron fist of “momager” Kris, the Kardashians are making more money per minute than some of us earn in a lifetime, and while they can be loveable, the way they keep getting richer has a shadier side. Welcome to hardcore business, the Kardashian way.
15. They’ve Brainwashed Us To Respond To Anything “K”
Okay, so they have a good starting point. Aside from son, Rob, all of Kris’ girls have names beginning with K (Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, Kendall, and Kylie). They make sure that letter is at the forefront of our minds, starting with their show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians. While Kris nets healthy profits as executive producer, each member earns thousands of dollars per episode. Khloe’s used the letter in her website’s moniker (khloewithak), her short-lived show, Kocktails With Khloe, and even coined the term KLO-C-D to refer to her slightly obsessive compulsive behaviors. Forget being a queen, it’s King Kylie. Emojis are Kimojis, bookstores sell copies of Kardashian Konfidential, and their 2011 OPI nail line was cleverly named Kardashian Kolors. Add on Kylie Lip Kits, KKW Beauty, the Kendall+Kylie clothing line and app, plus matching letters for power couple, Kim and Kanye West, we’re surprised the other letters in the alphabet have even survived.
14. They Quietly Promote Each Other (More Than You’d Think)
The Kardashian clan is a well-oiled machine, and they hunt in packs. It would be unfair to say they don’t genuinely love one another, and fans definitely see that on their show, but there’s more to it than hugs and birthday surprises. Ever taken a look at their Christmas or Mother’s Day gift guides? Nicely sprinkled amid high or low cost items (that conveniently include brands they’re the face of, like Kylie’s Puma promotions or Kendall’s suggestions for beauty giant, Estee Lauder), they’re endorsing one concept more than anything else: each other.
In her 2017 holiday gift guide, Kim made sure there was a click-to-buy option for Khloe’s $139 Good American bodysuit, Rob’s $15 Arthur George socks, Kylie’s $44 lip kit, plus a whole section from her and husband, Kanye’s Kids’ Supply line. The favor was likewise returned by Khloe, who was quick to recommend a KKW beauty set, plus the KOKO Kylie Cosmetics kit named after her. Of course, Kim makes sure her social media posts see her head-to-toe in Kanye’s Yeezy line. Seeing the pattern yet?
