4 Only Kellogg’s For Breakfast
You might not enjoy eating breakfast at Buckingham Palace for a week. The Queen is known to stick with basic meals and eat the same thing every day for breakfast. According to her former head chef, Darren McGrady, the Queen ‘eats to live, unlike Prince Phillip who loves to eat and would stand and talk about food all day.
She’ll start with a fresh pot of Earl Grey tea in bone china and a few biscuits. That’s to prep for breakfast. For her first real meal, she’ll have cereal in fruit. Gasp! That’s right, for the woman who can have anything she wants in the world for breakfast she prefers a bowl of Special K or Weetabix. Then, just to surprise us even more, the Queen requests that her cereal is served to her in Tupperware.
3 Royals Must Accept Gifts
If you have a gift for the Royal family, then they must accept it. On their part, it’s considered proper form. And, no matter what the gift they must accept it graciously. Prince Harry once had to accept an automatic rifle. Prince Andrew once received twelve boxes of mangoes. He was also given an Arctic Monkey’s CD and Hilary Clinton’s book ‘Hard Choices’.
Perhaps, one of the best gifts the Royals have ever been recorded as receiving has been a miniature throne from the ‘Game of Thrones’ that was given to Queen Elizabeth. Having your own personal version of the Iron Throne sure beats wine or whiskey that is worth thousands of dollars or an expensive piece of jewelry. Although, we’re sure that the royal family has received plenty of those types of gifts.2 Never Turn Your Back On The Queen
If you go to the British Monarchy website you’ll see that there are ‘no obligatory codes of behaviour when meeting the Queen.’ However, that is also followed by the statement that many people ‘prefer to observe the traditional forms’ when meeting the Queen. That might mean addressing her as ‘Your Majesty’, only speaking when spoken to, and never turning your back on the Queen. It’s considered rude.
After speaking with the Queen, allow her to leave first or stand by her side. If you’re at an event with a royal, guests must also allow the Queen to leave first. It is considered rude if you leave before Her Majesty. I guess that means that we should all make sure we have a cup of coffee before visiting the Queen.
1 Be Careful Where You Place Your Purse
The Queen’s purse is more than just a matching accessory that she stores her lipstick in. It’s also used as a secret code. That’s part of the reason that she chooses to carry a purse instead of a clutch as Kate Middleton often does. Apparently, Kate uses her clutch to avoid awkward handshakes.
The Queen’s Launer handbags can dictate when a conversation is to end or when she’s finished dinner. If she places her handbag on the table during dinner that means that she’s ready for it to end within the next five minutes. If she puts it on the floor, she wants to be rescued from a conversation by her lady-in-waiting. If she’s standing and moves her handbag to her right arm that means she also needs rescuing from a conversation.
