The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the robbery and murder at the Computer Village in Abeokuta, the capital of the state.
The suspects were identified as Ajayi Kayode, Habeeb Idowu, and Temitayo Oresanya. The robbers had reportedly attacked the Computer Village on April 12, 2023, and killed one trader.
The suspects were later apprehended on Saturday, in the Abule Ake area of Kemta where they were hiding after the incident.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the arrest of the suspects was made following a tip-off received by policemen attached to Kemta divisional headquarters.
The DPO Kemta division, CSP Adeniyi Adekunle, mobilised his men and moved to the scene where the three suspects were arrested.
Two of the suspects have confessed their participation in the robbery incident, while the third one, Temitayo Oresanya, claimed that he didn’t participate in the robbery. Oresanya, however, affirmed to be a member of the same cult group as the other suspects.
Oyeyemi said that the Commissioner of Police, Olanrewaju Oladimeji, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to State Criminal Investigation Departments for discreet investigation.
Speaking about the arrests, Oyeyemi said, “The suspects, Ajayi Kayode, Habeeb Idowu, and Temitayo Oresanya were arrested, following information received by policemen attached to Kemta divisional headquarters that the suspects have been hibernating at Abule Ake area of Kemta for quite some time now to evade police arrest.”
The arrest of the suspects has been applauded by members of the public, who expressed their satisfaction with the prompt response of the police in tracking down the perpetrators of the heinous crime.
The police have also assured the public of their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the people in the state.
